Mid-Georgia, from all of us!

First, let me personally thank the board for their support and to everyone who extended their well wishes.  Also, I would be remiss if I did not extend my heartfelt thank you to Victor and Lois Payne for all they have done the past eight years.  They have truly been the heart and soul of this organization!  Thanks, both of you for all your hard work!

I wish to reiterate some things that I said following the banquet dinner on Saturday.  First, the Rosenwald-Harlanites Board of trustees has funded and supported much of what the national has done for the past six years or more.  They pay their own expenses traveling to and form our quarterly and annual meetings, as well as the reunions expenses.  This as everyone knows can exceed $500.00 in a weekend, not including the reunion registration fees.   In addition to their meeting expenses, each board member pays a special assessment of $100.00 a year.   It is my humble opinion, we owe them our full gratitude for what they have done for this organization.   So, if you see one of our past or present board members, please extend your appreciation for their playing a major role in keeping our beloved Rosenwald-Harlanites financially solvent.

The following is a list of opportunities each of you has to support your beloved Rosenwald Harlanites:

>> Pledge to donate $100.00 a year to RHI (When you pay five consecutive years you will automatically receive your lifetime membership status)

>> Volunteer for one of our committees

>> Join, help to rebuild or form a local chapter.  You only need five dues paying members to be a chapter.  Each chapter has a member on the board.

>> We will have open meetings.  Our scheduled meetings will begin with the open meeting and a closed Board meeting if needed.   The next scheduled meeting is November 1, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Louisville, KY.  Please come one, come all.

You are needed to help us help the kids!!!  Love is the key to our higher calling.  I need each and every one of you to make this work for all of us.   Please join this winning team to build an organization to help bridge the gap of education for our young people.
