I am requesting African Americans sign up as bone marrow donors. Only 500,000 are registered, as compared to 5,000,000 caucasians. No pain is involved to get tested. The cost is waived for AA. The test is performed by swabbing the mouth (cheeks); placing it in a kit provided by the registry and mailing it at no cost. This can help save a number of lives. A young lady who has a Kentucky connection is in need of a donor. She has leukemia. Can you forward this to Rosenwald Harlanites? I will gladly forward the kit . The maximum age of a donor is 60. Thanks for helping save lives. |
